Milan, Day Three 15/04

Today was honestly one of the best days since we arrived in Milan. We woke up quite early and had breakfast at the hotel buffet, which was surprisingly good. After that, we headed to the high school, where they had prepared a really fun activity for us. We were split into two groups, and our group had to be the judges. The game was divided into three parts:

 • First, the Italian students performed a roleplay of a typical scene in a restaurant, which was really entertaining to watch.

 • Second, there was a blind test of smell, taste and touch — we had to guess different things without looking. It was harder than it sounds!

 • Third, and this was definitely our favourite part, we got to taste dishes they had cooked themselves. The food was absolutely delicious.

I have to be honest… there was a little bit of cheating going on, but we had such a great time that it didn’t really matter!

After that, it was our turn to share a piece of Spanish culture. We brought typical Spanish tapas and took the opportunity to talk and get to know the Italian students better. Then we split into smaller groups and went to different classrooms to present our projects. If I’m being honest, this part felt a bit long and repetitive; we think it would have been much more engaging if we had done something more interactive instead.

In the afternoon, after having lunch, we visited the city centre of Milan. The highlight was, without a doubt, the Duomo Cathedral. We went inside and then climbed up to the rooftop, where the views over the city were absolutely breathtaking. The architecture was stunning. What impressed us the most was the incredible amount of detail all over the building. It really is something you have to see with your own eyes.

To end the day, we went to a really peculiar bar next to the canal, where we enjoyed some delicious cocktails and soft drinks. The perfect ending to a perfect day.

La verdad es que hoy ha sido uno de los mejores días desde que llegamos a Milán. Nos levantamos bastante temprano y desayunamos en el bufé del hotel, que estaba sorprendentemente bien. Luego fuimos al instituto, donde nos tenían preparada una actividad muy chula. Nos dividieron en dos grupos, y al nuestro le tocó hacer de jurado. El juego tenía tres partes:

- Primero, los estudiantes italianos hicieron un juego de rol de una escena típica en un restaurante, que fue muy divertido de ver.

- Después, hubo una prueba ciega de olfato, gusto y tacto: teníamos que adivinar cosas sin mirar. ¡Mucho más difícil de lo que parece!

- Y por último, nuestra parte favorita con diferencia: probar los platos que ellos mismos habían cocinado. Estaba todo buenísimo.

Siendo sinceros… hubo algo de trampa por ahí, pero nos lo pasamos tan bien que tampoco importó demasiado.

Después nos tocó a nosotros compartir un poco de cultura española. Llevamos tapas típicas y aprovechamos para charlar y conocer mejor a los italianos. Luego nos separamos en grupos más pequeños y fuimos a distintas aulas a presentar nuestros proyectos. Si somos honestos, esta parte se hizo un poco larga y pesada; creo que habría funcionado mucho mejor hacer algo más dinámico e interactivo.

Por la tarde, después de comer, visitamos el centro de Milán. Lo más impresionante, sin duda, fue la Catedral del Duomo. Entramos y después subimos a la azotea, desde donde las vistas de la ciudad eran una pasada. La arquitectura es espectacular, pero lo que más nos llamó la atención fue la cantidad de detalles que tiene por todos lados. Es de esas cosas que hay que ver en persona.

Para cerrar el día, fuimos a un bar muy peculiar al lado del canal, donde tomamos unos cócteles y refrescos riquísimos. El final perfecto para un día perfecto.
