Job Shadowing, Day Three 15/04
We had a brilliant day today! We started our clases at 8.55. The Italian school had programmed everything for us.
The first year of high school of the "indirizzo technico" had 14-15 years old students. Their aim is to get a Diploma after 5 years which will allow them to work.
Our next class was the last year, 5th, of the "liceo linguistico", another maths classes in which the students showed much more interest. They were 18-19 years old, and their next step is university. The group was paying attention at all times while the teacher was explaining procedures in the chalkboard.
The teachers in this school spend their whole 5 years with the same students, which makes education a much more personal and fullfilling experience both for teachers and students.
Phones are absolutely banned on this school, and even thought they installations are not very complex, they are completely useful. The students handle everything with ease and the building offers wide spaces, avoiding crowds of students both inside and outside the classes.
After school we lived the beautiful experience of visiting Il Duomo and going up to its roof, enjoying the magnificent views and architecture there.
The weather was wonderful, so we made the most of it and we went to Navigli, where there are a cross of canals and where everybody goes to have their 'aperitivo' looking at the sunset. We saw a group of women from a foundation against methastatic breast cancer on a boat in the canal. We loved seeing how they were together united for this cause.
