Journal of Aksaray: Day 5 - 05-23-2025 by Fran Fornell and Raquel Romero

And sadly, the last day of this enriching experience arrives. We begin the day by signing Erasmus documents in a meeting with our close friends Bürak and Mehmet. 

But this adventure doesn't end here. On our way back, we visit iconic places like Tuz Golu, the salt lake, and the mausoleum of Atatürk, a pivotal figure in Turkish history. 

During this week, our relationship with the students has grown, and we have felt part of their lives. 

The hardest thing is saying goodbye to people who have welcomed us with open arms. We are incredibly grateful for the warm welcome and affection shown by the Turkish teachers and families toward our students. We are returning with our suitcases full of unforgettable moments, learning experiences, laughter, and lifelong friends. But we know it's not goodbye; Aksaray and La Puebla del Río will reunite in the future to continue living and learning together.

Let’s pray that they build an airport in the city during this time or we'll die trying, hahaha.

Y tristemente llega el último día de esta enriquecedora experiencia. Comenzamos con la firma de documentos Erasmus en una reunión con nuestros más que amigos Bürak y Mehmet. 

Pero esta aventura no acaba aquí. En nuestro de camino de vuelta, visitamos lugares emblemáticos como Tuz Golu, el lago de sal y el mausoleo de Atatürk, personaje fundamental en la historia de Turquía.

Durante esta semana nuestra relación con los chicos ha ido creciendo y nos hemos sentido parte de su vida.

Lo más duro es decir adiós a gente que nos ha recibido con los brazos abiertos. Agradecemos enormemente la acogida y el cariño del profesorado y las familias turcas hacia nuestro alumnado. Nos volvemos con la maleta llena de momentos inolvidables, aprendizaje, vivencias, risas, y amigos para siempre. Pero sabemos que no es un adiós, Aksaray y La Puebla del Río volverán a unirse en el futuro para seguir conviviendo y aprendiendo juntos.

Eso sí, recemos para que durante este tiempo construyan un aeropuerto en la ciudad o moriremos en el intento, jajajaja.
